Holder and His Family
Name: Benreon

Personality: Benreon is a gambler. He loves card games as much as he loves to laugh. He's willing to bet his shirt for the right game and thoroughly enjoys the sight of watching the faces of those he beats. He is not a cheater however and will take losing just as well as winning. Whatever happens in the game, Benreon always has an easy smile, enjoying his life.
History: Ironically he inherited the position from his gambling problem, having one the entire hold in a high-stakes game with the former Holder. (Much to the embarrassment of the last holder) He has never bet the hold and never intends to as he quite likes being the Holder.
Family Information: Current husband of Toresha. She is his second wife. He is the father of eight children. Bensha is among his favorite children and youngest daughter. Father of 1, 2 and 3 (with first wife), and Amiee, Canaan (deceased), Bensha of green Verigeoth, T'reon, T'shen of brown Ghainemath (deceased) with Toresha. Cousin of Braden.

Personality: Though not the perfect model of motherhood or the perfect "domestic goddess" she enjoys being a mother and revels in her children's accomplishments. However, she still has a wild streak in her and can often be found teaching them more dangerous activities such as bare-handed fishing and riding bareback. Though not as agile as she once was, in her earlier days at High Rest Hold, she was often seen climbing trees to get the various fruits instead of using a picker tool.
History: She met Benreon while he was visiting Sorkai Hold on Faran Island. She fell in love with him immediately and came back with him, spending several Turns as a good friend (surprisingly not his mistress) until his first wife died. When he asked her to marry him, she did not hesitate and took in his then three children as her own. She has since then borne him five more children.

History: The head of the Holdfolk who came to help Rydel reconstruct the Observatory. Though dubious of the Starsmith's leadership due to the boy's age, he became a staunch believer in the project shortly after seeing Rydel's plans.

History: Both her parents are Craftsmen - Weaver and Beastherder. She was raised in the Kajano Hold, and lived with her parents until quite recently when she met a Trader from High Rest Island in the Erdan Chain. In the short time he was there, they fell in love and have now been married almost half a Turn. When he returned to High Rest, she went with him and now lives at the Hold while he is away.
Family Connections: Wife of Majorn. Gnesta is the oldest daughter and middle child of five children. Notok and Ozavr her older brothers, S'yloa is her younger brother, and Alcmene is her younger sister. Currently pregnant.

History: One in a long line of seafarer Majorn, like is forefathers before him, sails firestone and coal across the oceans to trade for fresh fruits and other supplies not readily available on the Erdan Island Chain. On a recent voyage, he met the soft-spoken Gnesta and fell in love with her. They have been married for almost 2 Turns now. His route is between High Rest Hold and Rivers Crossing Hold

Personality: She is very intelligent and loves to solve puzzles. Though she is grateful for her daughter, she is a bit sad that R'den did not make her his weyrmate.
History: Born and raised in White Sands Hold, she moved to the Weyr after being Searched but never Impressed. She had no regrets. The only time she has left the Island Chain was when she walked the tables to become a Journeyman. After giving birth to Rinia, she did her best to take care of the girl and raised her with all the skills necessary to be a wife, mother and even taught her some basic Harper knowledge. Once her daughter was Searched, the Harper left her in the capable hands of the Weyr. She is currently living on High Rest Island in the Hold to school those children who aren't so fortunate to have a Harper but came back to watch her daughter stand.

Personality: Rak doesn't say much. He's more of a 'yes, sir' man. He does what he's told, and doesn't go off the beaten track. He keeps to himself and some might consider him a loner. The way he does react to people is to ignore them outright, preferring to keep only to himself, the sea, or the dolphins.
History: Rak was born at a sea hold to a small family. His mother and father are fisherman, and two younger sisters. Which, of course, meant that he had to help his mother and father when he was old enough. When he's not out at sea with his family boat, he can easily be found sitting on the beaches of Argoth Seahold, gazing out at the sea silently or interacting with the local dolphin pod.
