No New Posts First Tier: Gold weyrs

By far the largest and most spacious weyrs, these are situated on the highest tier and have the fewer number of individual weyrs. The ledges are large enough for two large metallic dragons to rest comfortably.

The rooms are large and laid out similarly to the bronze weyrs. Ideal for two people to live in, they can seem a little large for one. They come with the most ready fitted furniture.

As with all the weyrs, there is plenty of water running from the numerous small tunnels cut into the Weyr walls. They also have dumb-waiter shafts for the residents to use while getting food from the kitchen. This makes delivering food much easier than attempting to keep a meal in one piece while on dragon-back.

No New Posts Second Tier: Bronze weyrs

These weyrs are situated on the second highest tier and have a good view of the Weyr. The weyr ledge is large enough to fit two of the bigger dragon colors comfortably.

Inside, there is one more room than in the lower tiers, which can be used for dining, studying or just entertaining. The other rooms are large and come with furniture and the bathing rooms are relatively spacious.

No New Posts Third Tier: Bronze & Brown weyrs

Situated on the third tier just above the blue weyrs, most of these weyrs are newer than the lower two levels and the walls are smoother carved. The ledges are large enough to fit a big brown and a green comfortably and have a decent view of the Weyr.

Inside the rooms are larger and more spacious than the lower tiers. The bathing room is a better fitted but not much bigger than the lower tier.

No New Posts Fourth Tier: Brown & Blue weyrs

These are found on the fourth tier of weyrs, just above the green weyrs. There are more medium weyrs than in the tiers above, providing more than enough for the sparse collection of dragons at White Sands.

The ledge is big enough to fit a blue and a green comfortably and is the more logical choice for weyrmates to move.

The rooms inside are a few feet bigger than the green weyrs. The larger sleeping area is better suited for two people and the bathing areas are usually bigger.

Basic furniture is provided for the rider - a table, chairs and a bookshelf.

No New Posts Fifth Tier: Blue & Green weyrs

These are situated on the lowest tier of weyrs, just above the Weyr offices and the rest of the Lower Caverns. The ledges are smaller than others due to the smaller size of green dragons but can fit two of the smaller colored dragons.

These are some of the older weyrs and the 'rider accommodation are small but adequate. They consist of a main room, sleeping area and small bathing room.

In the hey-day of White Sands' population, the newly graduated Senior Weyrlings would move into these weyrs until their dragons were either too big for them or another weyr opened on one of the higher tiers.

Board Description
Dragonrider weyrs
In the traditional layout of the residential weyrs of Pern, the weyrs of White Sands are no exception. Set within the rising wall of the Weyrbowl are the ledges and weyrs used for the residence of the dragonriders. The majority of the weyrs are under the side of the Rim where upon the Star Stones rest, their entrances therefore facing toward the ocean and east. A few are on the curve of the Weyrbowl's wall and face rather toward the Hatching Grounds and therefore south. Along each of the ledges save the top most is a stone walkway that allows dragonriders or visitors to move past the weyrs without bothering the dragons or humans within.

Each of the weyrs have a ledge that is visible from certain angles in the Weyrbowl, and an inner sanctum for the dragons to sleep when it is nighttime or too cold. The outer ledge provides an excellent view for dragons to peer down at the people in the Weyrbowl as they go about their day, and some of the weyrs have a perfect view of the sunrise as it crests over the ocean's edge.

Although there are five tiers above the ground, there are a few scattered weyrs on ground level meant for retired dragonriders whose dragons don't fly well, injured dragons on the road to recovery and Weyrlings who aren't ready to walk up the long set of stairs every night to get home after lessons.

The above ground weyrs are accessible from dragonback or a winding path that leads up to the various levels and finally to the Rim.
