Weather

Erdan Island Chain

Northern Islands: The mornings are still chill but the days are warming up. The occasional cold wind rushes through the otherwise mild evenings. The trees are in full blossom. (Faran, Trys, High Rest)
Torene: Rain increases as monsoon season fast approaches. Storms gather in the distance. Boats are advised to be wary. Dragons should be wary of high winds. The waves are excellent for 'surfing'. The trees are in full blossom.
Southern Islands: Scattered showers and infrequent thunderstorms. The mornings are bitter cold, but the day warms to be pleasant. (Essal, Quent, Island of the Connell)
Huryen: The evenings are increasingly warm, but pleasant. The days' temperature is mild. The water around the island is warming.
Jubella: Frigid dangerous tides around the coast. Crisp, windy nights and heavy rain. There is occasional snow.

Western Continent

Great Cliffs / Northern Half: Chill temperatures with fog during the morning. There are occasional biting breezes and the mornings are frost-filled. Snow dots the higher elevations.
Crashing Seas / Southern Half: Days grow colder, the wind harsher. Air travel and boating not advised.

Down by the Sea - (Jr. Weyrlings, Lesson 6) Eight Months. Making and testing straps, dragonettes solo flights. Weyrlings learning in-flight hand signals. Teaching dragons to hunt. Practice communicating without speaking, dragons continue to practice jumps and short flights.

White Sands Weyr

New Hope - (Sr. Weyrlings, Lesson 5) One Turn and six months! Continue between jumps, increase distance / continue ground practice / aerial maneuvers. Green are almost mature and ready to Rise in two - three months.

Storm Tossed - (Sr. Weyrlings) Two Turns! Graduation will commence during the Summer Gather Day celebration.

White Sands Hold - 1 Viewing

The main Hold of Essal Island and the Erdan Island Chain. The Lord Holder and his family live here.

Situated about three miles from the ocean, it is nestled with its back to the Weyr's foothills. On foot it takes approximately two hours to get to the Weyr's ground entrance from the Hold. The road is wide enough for carts and runners. The Hold is built into a cliff face and has been designed with over-hanging ledges so the residents can keep small gardens without fear of Thread destroying them.

A series of docks have been built in the lake nearby. This lake is fed from water that trails down the mountain side in a waterfall and pool system. The river leading off from the lake is a direct path to the ocean, its width gives plenty of room for trading ships to port here.

The Wilderness

In the area that no one lives, a plethora of rich vegetation can be found. Essal island is mostly lush hillsides. This is the area on Essal Island, including the coastline and shallows of the ocean where no one lives.

This board includes the wilderness area surrounding the Hold and beyond. The lightly forested area and coastline around the Weyr can be found on that board.
