Huryen Island

Huryen Island is the second largest of the inhabited islands on the archipelago and has the biggest population of humans.

With its criss-crossing rivers and hot springs, this is the warmest of the islands. The weather is generally mild and slightly humid on this island, even when all the other islands are blanketed in snow.

What sets this island apart from the others is its busy shipping yards. While it does not export anything of great importance save fish, there are two large holds here. Their docks are constantly busy with trade ships from all over Pern. Despite the nasty riptide it is a major stop for almost all the traders in the Southern hemisphere.

This Island has the distinction of housing the Harper Hall. The original Harper Hall was moved here in the middle of the last Interval.

There is a very nasty riptide off the southern coast of this island. The riptide is fiercest during the winter months, when it is capable of pulling a full-grown green dragon out to sea. It can kill a man or dolphin, and ships are ill-advised to go there during any time of the Turn.

Carena Hold is here, as is Argoth Sea Hold. There is a Dolphin Bell here. Huryen is located between and east of Quent and Jubella.
