Girls' Dorm

Along the walls of this dorm are tapestries reflecting the Teaching Songs, as well as several notable historical figures, among them a rare one of Sorka and Sean.

On either side of this hall are curtained beds for the female Candidates. The beds do not vary in size, and all the curtains are in good repair thanks to the diligent efforts of the Weyrfolk who ensured this room is always clean. Save for a few new superficial cracks in the ceiling, it did not suffer any damage during the Storm.

On the far end of the hall is a doorway leading to the bathing area set aside for the girls. Though usually, Weyrs have communal bathing areas, White Sands is small enough and modern enough to allow for more secluded accommodations. This has proven quite helpful for female Candidates who are often at the awkward age of being embarrassed about the changes in their bodies as they go through adolescence.

Boys' Dorm

Along the walls of this dorm are tapestries reflecting the Teaching Songs, as well as several notable historical figures, among them a rare one of the three ships the Colonists came on.

On either side of this hall are curtained beds for the male Candidates. The beds do not vary in size, and the room is free from the majority of dirt and crud thanks to the diligent efforts of the Weyrfolk who ensured this room is always clean. Most of the curtains are dark blue; however, the new ones are lighter blue.

There was extensive damage done to this room during the Storm and repairs are finally finished. The left half of the wall and ceiling closest to the bathing room collapsed from a massive cave-in. Though no one was injured at the time there are now several fewer bunks than there were before. Access to the bathing room has been restored.

On the left wall between beds three and four, is an archway that leads to the bathing area set aside for the boys.
