Female Weyrling Barracks
Along the walls of this dorm are tapestries reflecting the Teaching Songs, as well as several Wing formation charts that labeled positions – Wingrider, Wingsecond, and Wingleader. Hand-drawn examples of the different shoulder knots from Weyr, Hold and Crafter positions frame the doorway.
On either side of this hall are alcoves separated by half walls. Their entrances are covered with heavy curtains. Within the alcoves are large sleeping depressions for the dragonets, and a bed for the Weyrlings. These beds are longer and wider than the ones in the Candidate Barracks. There is also more room to move around it. A chest at the foot of the bed keeps possessions secure. On the low wall between the alcoves are a variety of hooks that will, eventually, be for the pair's riding gear. There are also a table and a chair here and most of the alcoves have charcoal supplied in small containers.
By the state of this Hall, an observer might imagine there are usually more female Weyrlings than males as it is well kept up and cleaned. All the curtains and alcoves are in good shape and sewn neatly. The floor is swept on a regular basis by drudges who come in while the Weyrlings are at lessons.
On the far end of the hall is a doorway leading to the private bathing area set aside for the female Weyrlings. Though usually, Weyrs have communal bathing areas, White Sands is small enough and modern enough to allow for more secluded accommodations. As with the Candidate Barracks, this has proven quite helpful for female Weyrlings who are often at the awkward age of being embarrassed about the changes in their bodies as they go through adolescence. It is also more conveniently close to their living spaces and prevents wet dragons from running through the Weyrling Barracks... at least in theory...

Alcoves on the Right
- 1. Closest to the door. This alcove is fully equipped and in good repair. The curtain covering the entrance is unusually bright green. This is one of the alcoves that have blankets and furs for Weyrling and dragonet, several pillows, and charcoal. One of the former residents stitched nice covers for these pillows, giving them an embroidered finish of leaves and vines wrapping around the pillows’ covers. There is also a bonus bucket under the table.
- 2. Second closest to the door and another alcove that is in excellent repair. The curtains are light blue. It is oddly shaped, providing it with slightly more room in the back in the form of an old niche in the wall that was never repaired. One of the past residents has drawn designs on the walls in charcoal. The curtain entrance is cream in hue. This is one of the alcoves that have blankets and furs for both Weyrling and dragonet, charcoal, and several pillows.
- 3. Middle alcove. This alcove is fully equipped and in good repair. The curtain entrance is fresh lavender in coloration and has the faint scent of flowers. This is one of the alcoves that have blankets and furs for both Weyrling and dragonet, several pillows, and charcoal. There is also a basin on the table, and a bucket under it. However, this is probably best suited for a smaller dragonet as it is the smallest alcove in the room.
- 4. The curtains are a faded yellow with equally faded flowers painted on them.
- 5. The curtains are dark pink. The blankets and furs have been dyed to match the curtains, making this alcove incredibly... pink. The last occupant forgot a little throw pillow, which unfortunately is not pink. It's a light blue throw.
Alcoves on the Left
- 1. Covering the entrance of this alcove are the curtains of a medium blue hue. The depression for the dragonet is bigger than some of the other alcoves, giving adequate room for even the largest dragonet it can easily accommodate a gold.
- 2. Although the curtains are faded and are of no discernible hue, it is an impressive alcove. An alcove that has seen much time and effort put into the decorations in this room. Drawn with charcoal there are tiny pictures of vines and roses around the borders of the short walls dividing this alcove from the others. Although more or less smeared from the passing of time, the plants on the inner wall are still visible and identifiable as medicinal herbs.
- 3. These curtains are light blue in hue.
- 4. The fourth alcove on this side, this alcove is equipped with blankets and furs that are thinner than in other alcoves. Unless the Weyrling changes these blankets, she might not be warm enough in the chilly winters. She is shielded from the rest of the Barracks by a set of green and yellow curtains.
- 5. In this alcove are found curtains of an impressive violet hue.
