NPCing S'varr & wing
---------------------------
S’varr had a distinctly annoyed look on his face as J’zeni seemed to ignore him in favor of his dragon. He always seemed to be distracted by the bronze. It was a wonder he got anything done! He looked like he was about to speak when J’zeni finally spoke up. The annoyed look didn't disappear. If anything, it intensified. He couldn’t find much fault in J’zeni's plan, since it was close to what he had come up with, especially about using Kajono’s drum tower and the Star Stones.
“Oh, you'll let me? How kind of you,” S’varr said, his sarcasm dripping from his tone. He didn’t argue about who his wing was picking up, though he did wonder momentarily if J’zeni was trying to placate him by giving his wing the important task of bringing Healer Millian back. “Did S’yloa clear that with T’nik?” he snapped. “That’s something for the Unit Leader to handle, not you. Even if that weird kid is a candidate, he’s the Unit Leader’s responsibility during threadfall.” Although, after T’nik’s performance during threadfall, he couldn’t be sure that he had, and just didn’t tell him. The blue rider had seemed to do just fine during practice. It disappointed S’varr that he failed so spectacularly. At least Kitti had been able to pick up after him.
“Oh, so you think you're Weyrling Master now?” He sneered. “We’ve all had the same classes. Or do you think you can do better?” He didn't give J’zeni a chance to answer. “You may be too busy to work with your wingmates, but C’sel and I have been spending time with B’ryan since threadfall practice. We’ve got him covered. Rylani and Sagirath’ll keep an eye on Terrapin and Fulsith. And T’sia has already said he’ll watch Karynn and Kiana, so you don't have to worry your pretty little head over them.” J’zeni's self-important attitude really got on S’varr’s nerves. Behind him, C’sel nodded at the sound of his name and then put a reassuring hand on the former Crashing Seas rider’s shoulder. Rylani and T’sia also nodded, while Terrapin looked a little sheepish at being called out.
"Yes, of course, you've been spending time together. You're all from Crashing Seas Weyr." J'zeni replied cooly. S'varr's anger jabs had no effect on him. "We haven't had a chance to interact on a professional basis, and I don't pretend to know how practice went in Crashing Seas. I'm sure Ra'shin did a good job teaching. I hope he'll take over as the Weyrling Master here since K'ivan and the other leaders shouldn't have to do it on top of their own responsibilities. It would be nice to have a regular Weyrling Master again. I have been to Weyrling Lessons on a regular basis, here at Great Cliffs."
"I'm telling you my plan because you asked me about it. I'm giving you a choice to decide which passenger goes where because that's how a Wingleader would handle the situation. You are the Wingleader, in this case, so you get to decide. Since she's our priority we should get Millian to the Weyr as quickly as possible, I thought of a suggestion as to who should take her, but I understand there's only so much of my plan you want to hear."
"Ah, as for S'yloa... he told me he cleared it with T'nik and K'ivan. You're welcome to ask either of them for verification." J'zeni said and shrugged as he finished. That was beyond his control. It wasn't his fault that S'varr couldn't handle the situation or hadn't checked in with T'niz or K'ivan or even Kitti to find out what was going on. T'niz wasn't exactly leader material, but Kitti was approachable and friendly, even to jerks like S'varr.
What can you expect he's only a blue. Well, true... but I've read there was a blue Weyrleader at Great Cliffs a long time ago. I wouldn't know. I don't believe it. Vor replied imperiously. The idea that any chromatic could be in such an important position appalled the bronze.
"I'm glad you and Rylani and T'sia are on top of it because - " Baizynth's Weyrwide call came through at that point and interrupted J'zeni mid-sentence. He listened as Alvoradath related Baizynth's message to him. J'zeni blinked and rolled his shoulders back in surprise. "Oh, thank Faranth the drill's over."
He exhaled a long sigh, then continued his previous sentence. "I'm uh - Oh! I'm glad that your wing had it handled. Wing members should keep an eye on each other. It's a sign of good teamwork and reflects well on the Wingleader."
