Appearance: Kira is 5’7”, 125 lbs. She has blue eyes and shoulder length blond hair. She wears silver hoops in her ears and a ring shaped like a dragon wrapped around her right middle finger, holding a stone. She is of slender build and medium complexion that tans easily. She wears both pants and skirts, depending on the occasion, but prefers skirts. She prefers the colors of her craft, shades of blue and gold.
Personality: Kira loves music. It's all she wants to do. She was born with perfect pitch and can play or sing any note or song she has heard once. She can also memorize anything told to her if put to music. She has a strong voice, and is happy to perform for any audience of one or many. She is quick witted and good at improvising. She is outgoing and friendly most of the time. She is organized and disciplined. She is good in a crisis, keeping a level head and helping others stay calm.
Kira suffers from bouts of depression stemming from survivor's guilt. She tries not to become too attached to people, having lost so many people she cared for in the past. She is attracted to both men and women.
History: Kira was born in High Desert Hold, a small beastholder cothold on the Igen coast in the Big Bay. She was the youngest of four, and the only girl. The cothold is known for breeding fast runnerbeasts. When she was 5, her family left to take some runnerbeasts on a ship across the sea headed for Southern Hold. A freak storm hit the ship, sending it off course and eventually destroying it. She was among only 5 survivors, rescued by a pod of dolphins. They were brought to Paradise River Hold. With no known relatives to claim her, she was taken in by the dolphineer Holder and his wife.
Kira always loved music but it blossomed when she started lessons with the Hold’s Harper. He encouraged her and sponsored her to apprentice at the Harper Hall as soon as she was old enough despite the protests of her foster parents who wanted her to stay and help them. She was accepted at the Hall because of her abilities and endured a lot of bullying her first few months because of it. She made friends with another apprentice three turns her senior, Darnel, who helped her fit in. Kira was made the apprentice of a Master Kiem and his wife Master Lindy, a kindly, childless couple. They helped her understand her gift and grow as a musician, as well as treating her like a daughter. She and Darnel also grew closer during this time, their friendship blossoming into something more, which Kiem did not discourage.
When Kira turned 15, her foster mother, who was a cousin to Herron, the Lord Holder of White Sands Hold, tried to pull her from the Hall by arranging a marriage between her and the Lord Holder’s youngest son Linden, a vinter who enjoyed his wares a little too much. Kiem was able to intervene, getting the marriage put off until she either walked to tables to Journeyman or turned 19, giving them a reprieve until they could figure something else out. This caused a rift between her and her foster parents. Shortly after this, Darnel, who had just walked the tables, was assigned to Southern Hold on the other side of the continent, and just after arriving, while helping with the entertaining at Southern Weyr, ended up impressing a bronze from the stands. The attempt to take her from her music and seemingly losing D'nel sent her into a bout of depression. To help her out of it, Kiem got her a firelizard egg, and she impressed a green, naming her Emerald after Lindy mentioned how much she looked like one.
Early in her 16th turn, Linden tried to enforce the contract after he had become a journeyman, but was thwarted again by her masters. A few months later, both Lindy and Kiem were lost at sea when the ship they were traveling on sank and they were presumed dead, leaving Kira alone again. She was assigned to a new master, but found it difficult to concentrate on her studies and started to fall behind. She then fell into a deep depression, to the point that it was feared she may take her own life. It was believed a change of scenery would help her, so she was transferred to the Harper Hall at White Sands Weyr.

Appearance: Emerald is a dark green. Her hide sparkles in the light, much like the gemstone she is named for. The sails of her wings are a lighter, jade green, with hints of gold that can be seen when the light hits her just right. Her tail fades out to the same jade green at the tip. Her snout is short, but her eyes are smaller to give a proportional look to her head. Her chest is full, especially when she puffs it out.
Personality: Emerald is very outgoing. She has no fear, and will go right up to any dragon or human. She is sociable and likes to be around other dragonkind.
