No New Posts Crashing Seas Weyrhold

Crashing Seas gets its name because it faces the ocean and within the Weyr hangs the nearby aroma of the salty air. On any given day the far-off waves echo through the Weyrbowl and this was "back in the day" the original Great Cliffs Weyr. When a stranger from the future convinced everyone to come forward, the Weyr fell into disrepair until rediscovered in Turn 12 or 13 of this Pass.

Backed by the same mountain range as the current Great Cliffs Weyr, this much larger volcanic caldera has chutes that heat it throughout the Weyr.

Portions of the wall vanished since the earthquake in Turn 17 and the Weyr feels unstable. Draconic kind feels uneasy in this place...



Leadership - None.

Refugees from the Dark Times who wished for autonomy formed a conclave of people here. They held traditional dragon rider beliefs and rose to meet Thread. Due to the unusual creation of Crashing Seas Weyr, there was no Weyrleader or Weyrwoman - mostly due to the lack of gold or bronze riders who wanted to live here.

Despite this odd lack of draconic hierarchy, the Dragonriders still rose to fight Threadfall when needed. This ended in Turn 17 when an earthquake caused an exodus including all the dragonriders to Great Cliffs, shrinking the Weyr's already small population. Yet a handful of the residents insist in staying so Great Cliffs' leadership dubbed it a "Hold" instead.

Runners, Small numbers of Herdbeasts, Small numbers of Fish.

Best Known For:
Kajano Red: A special type of runner similar to Terran Anglo/Arab. Excellent for the deserts and plains of Western Continent.
Mid-Summer Gather: A Large Gather drawing crowds and racing enthusiasts from around Pern.

Located in the western part of the continent. Known as Port Sorrow in the Dark Times, afterward the Holder renamed it, Port Hope.

Bustling with activity at all hours of the day, the port is large enough to host sailing vessels large enough to be bringing in supplies for the whole continent. A large number of docks stretch out into the deep blue water, ordered in length and size so both large ships and small fisherman crafts can be docked here.

The port being set into the Continent so a secluded bay can keep all boats docked safely without the ocean currents ripping them away.

No New Posts Rivers Crossing Hold

Located at the "crossroads" of three rivers, this hold is a small insland port that provides a place to dock for those boats that draw shallow enough water to travel instand.
Rivers Crossing Hold has a newish Wher breeding program that fosters and encourages young people interested in learning about Whers.
